Science as a theme and Cuteness

I like to pick the topics for #BoardGameHour in one of two ways; I either source them from the community (which is my preference) or take inspiration from my own life or gaming...

The two topics for this week are Science as a theme and Cuteness, and they came form my own life but you will be glad to know they are not linked.

Why Science as a theme? Well, I love science for one but  I was also thinking about what games I could use to help me sons education. To be clear, I mean real science as apposed to science fiction which I will do as a topic soon... And yes Star Trek fans (of which I am one) they are different things!

Cuteness... This was inspired by looking at a range of artists for a client of mine. I for one, quite like cute art (as long as it doesn't go to far) as does my girlfriend, but I also feel it could well put some people off a game. When I have theories about gaming there is only one group of people I want to hear from about it, YOU LOVELY PEOPLE!

On a side note, I am not sure that doing our chat twice a week is working out very well so will see how second turn does this week and if it doesn't pop I'll drop it and rethink.

Hope you enjoy the board game chat this week :0)

Your questions will be:

Q1: Do you like real life science (e.g. not sci-fi) as a theme for board games?
Q2: What science themed games do you own? What was the last one you played?
Q3: Could you use any board games to teach real scientific theories?
Q4: If you could pick a real science theme for a game to be designed what would it be?
Q5: What would be your top science themed games recommendations?
Q6: If you wanted to introduce someone to board gaming who loved science, which game would you choose?
Q7: Cuteness: do you like games with cute art?
Q8: What games have the cutest artwork?
Q9: What games have the cutest components?
Q10: Do you feel a game looking cute means its going to be light or not challenging?
Q11: Are there any games that you will not play because they look too cute?
Q12: If you wanted to introduce someone to board gaming who loved cute things, which game would you choose?

Making it easier to take part in!

I generally used to use Nurph to host http://nurph.com/BoardGameHour (providing its working) but every now and then it goes down and causes problems.

If this happens, I recommend using http://twubs.com/boardgamehour or http://tweetchat.com/room/boardgamehour or Tweet Deck or Hootsuite to follow the hashtag chat. Of course you can just use twitter but sometimes the amount of #boardgamehour tweets can be challenging to keep up with.

Hope you can make it!
