Best of 2016 and effects of gaming

Image result for happy new year

#BoardGameHour had a little break over the holiday season but its now 2017 and we are back and ready to chat about board games! This week we have two topics, both of which were suggested by followers on Twitter.

The first is "best of 2016". We will look back at 2016 as see what games really got you going. I have intentionally asked about the best games you played in 2016 and then if they where published in that year too..

The reason I have done this is two fold. Mainly, because not everyone is able to play lots of the games that come out each year and so asking only about games that were published one year could limit some peoples contributions. Also though,  I want to know if the best games you played last year where released last year or if older games are still rocking your world. I for one would have to say that the games I got the most out of in 2016 were Ashes: Rise of the Phoenix born (published 2015), Lord of the Rings the LCG (published 2011) and Flamme Rouge (published 2016).

The other topic we will get into is how board gaming effects your life. Maybe something you wouldn't normally stop and think about, so it may be interesting to see what answers we get to what seem like obvious questions.

Hope you enjoy the board game chat this week :0)

Your questions will be:

Q1: As far as your board gaming life is concerned how was 2016 for you? Did you play lots of good games?
Q2: What were the best light / filler or party games you played in 2016? Were they published in 2016?
Q3: What were the heavy Euro games you played in 2016? Were they published in 2016?
Q4: What were the best thematic / american style games you played in 2016? Where they published in 2016?
Q5: What were the abstract games you played in 2016? Were they published in 2016?
Q6: Overall how would you say 2016 was regarding the quility of games published? Best year ever?
Q7: What positive effects would you say playing board games has on your life
Q8: What negative effects would you say playing board games has on your life
Q9: Do board games effect your work or familiy life in any way?
Q10: What positive or negatives effects does designing board games have on your life?

Making it easier to take part in!

I generally used to use Nurph to host http://nurph.com/BoardGameHour (providing its working) but every now and then it goes down and causes problems.

If this happens, I recommend using http://twubs.com/boardgamehour or http://tweetchat.com/room/boardgamehour or Tweet Deck or Hootsuite to follow the hashtag chat. Of course you can just use twitter but sometimes the amount of #boardgamehour tweets can be challenging to keep up with.

Hope you can make it!
