Mass Market Games

The main topic for Monday is "mass market games". By this I am generally meaning games you can by in retail shops that are not friendly local game shops (Hobby shops). I'm sure across the word this will vary, but in the UK your average toy shop will carry lots of traditional games such as Risk and maybe the odd light modern game.

One of the reasons I picked this topic is best a well know book shop franchise in the UK has over the last 2 or so years started dipping its toes into modern board games. I very much welcome this, but I feel they need a little help too. I tend to check out what each one of these shops is carrying out of interest when I am near them. I was a little horrified recently when the only hobby game that was being carried was Game of thrones second edition board game! I had visions of average Joe forking out £40 - £50 as a special treat for a GoT fan only to find the 20 odd page rule book and cry..

So, the mass market is changing, that much I am sure of.. The rest we can discuss :0)

Our side topic is Conventions.. We cover it every year, so why not now before I go to #Gencant

Hope you enjoy these questions and the discussions they create.
