Monday is July 4th and so I felt like I had to pick a relevant topic for our American friends... There seemed like only one choice, Ameritrash games.

Now let me say from the start, I don't like the term Ameritrash at all, I prefer thematic games, but it's the most common term used so I'm rolling with it. I have asked one question toward the end about the use of the term but I really don't want the whole chat to be about the merits of the word. If the term offends you, then please substitute it in your head for "thematic".

Our side topic continues and ends our player count series as we look at 5 player games. I will cover more than 5 players at some point but want to shake it up a little.

For balance, next week I will be asking questions about Euro style games!

Hope you enjoy these questions and the discussions they create.

Monday 4th July 2016 questions are:

Q1: Generally do you prefer Ameritrash (thematic) games or Euro (balanced) games?
Q2: What mechanic do you think most exemplifies Ameritrash?
Q3: What do you like about Ameritrash games?
Q4: What don't you like about Ameritrash games?
Q5: Do Ameritrash games really sacrifice game play for theme?
Q6: Is luck the biggest distinguisher between Ameritrash and Euro games?
Q7: What are your top 3 Ameritrash games
Q8: What tips would you give to someone wanting to design an Ameritrash style game?
Q9: Do you like the term Ameritrash? What would would you prefer used?
Q10: Side topic… How often do you play 5 player board games, who with?
Q11: What do you / don't you like about playing with 5 players?
Q12: What are you top three 5 player games?
